Explore Buffalo’s signature free event, Doors Open Buffalo, returns on Saturday, September 20th – taking place the day after Curtain Up! 2025! It’s the perfect weekend to celebrate the city’s rich arts and cultural scene, with special access to Downtown Buffalo’s historic theatres and dozens of other architecturally and historically significant buildings.
This one-day-only event invites the public to enjoy self-guided tours of buildings not usually open to visitors – completely free of charge. From iconic landmarks to hidden treasures, Doors Open offers a unique behind-the-scenes look at the places that help shape Buffalo’s story.
Visitors can choose their own adventure – explore one building or twenty. Past participants have included gems like City Hall, The Statler, cultural spaces, sacred sites, and stunning interiors throughout the heart of Downtown. And this year, expect even more access to beloved theatre venues that anchor Buffalo’s performing arts legacy. Details on participating buildings and free registration will go live in August. The event is family-friendly and includes features like sensory-friendly Quiet Hours and opportunities to volunteer as event greeters.
