A playwright, labor activist, and theater educator, Fried brought social consciousness to Buffalo’s theater scene. His plays, including “The Dodo Bird” and “Drop Hammer,” often focused on labor rights and social justice issues. As a professor at Buffalo State College, and through his popular playwriting workshop, he influenced countless students while maintaining an active career as a playwright and activist.
